FUND TYPES

At the Washington County Community Foundation, we provide a variety of fund options that make charitable giving straightforward and impactful. Donors choose to support meaningful causes through one time gifts or establishing a fund that creates a lasting legacy. By establishing a fund with us, individuals, families and businesses can ensure their generosity strengthens the community today and for generations to come. Each fund is professionally managed to maximize its reach and effectiveness, allowing donors to give back in ways that reflect what is important to them.

WCCF Endowment Fund – You may give a sum of money or a percentage of your estate to the WCCF Endowment Fund, the Foundation’s permanent endowment fund. This money provides support for the Grant and Scholarship programs.

Donor-Advised Funds -A charitable giving account that lets a donor make tax deductible gifts now and recommend grants to nonprofits over time. This allows donors to support multiple organizations and programs through one giving account.

Designated Fund -A fund established to benefit one or more specific organizations or charitable purposes of your choice.

Field of Interest Fund -A charitable fund that supports a specific cause or issue area chosen by the donor, while leaving the details of grant-making to the community foundation. Instead of naming individual nonprofits, donors define a broad focus. Then the Foundation uses its expertise to identify and award grants to organizations working within that field.

Scholarship Fund-A charitable fund established to provide financial assistance pursuing education. They can be established in memory or honor of someone and have specific criteria. Donors make contributions and the community foundation manages the fund and selection process based on the donor’s criteria.

Agency Fund – Created by a 501c3 organization, an agency fund allows a nonprofit to place its own charitable asset under the foundation’s professional management. The nonprofit remains the beneficiary, while the foundation provides investment oversight, compliance, and administrative support. This helps organizations build long-term reserves or endowments, ensuring their resources grow sustainably. By partnering with the foundation, nonprofits gain financial stability and maximize their impact.
